GO To Work Discovery Program

The Bardstown and Nelson County schools are working hard to prepare their students both academically and vocationally, to ensure they graduate from high school “Work Ready”. Whenever possible the schools use real-world activities that exposes students to the information, skills and experiences that will help them succeed in the workplace.

Students in the community who have intellectual disabilities also deserve the opportunity to explore and realize their full work/life potential and achieve personal independence. Under the auspices of the Guthrie Opportunity Center Foundation, the GO to Work Discovery Program – GWDP was established in 2015 to provide a transitional program that allows developmentally and intellectually disabled students to receive “Work Ready” training and experiences necessary to find gainful and meaningful employment after they leave high school.
